LEGO Magellan



Number of Robots per Event: One per team.

Length of Event: 3 minutes maximum

Robot Weight Range: Any

Robot Dimensions: Must fit within a sheet of 8.5” x 11" paper. Robots can't be taller 11".

Course Specifications: 5’ wide x 5’ long. Grid is made of black tape and red tape. The center square will be green construction paper.

Robot Control Specifications:  Autonomous

Tournament Format:  Single Elimination
    


Event Rules: 

The objective of the contest is to navigate from the start box to the finish box.

  1. Robots must be made with LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System and be programmed with the Robolab programming environment.
  2. Robots can consist of a maximum 1 RCX, 8 Wires, and 3 motors.
  3. Robots can only be touched prior to starting a round.
  4. The robot must not damage or change the course in any way.
  5. The robot cannot drop pieces of itself.
  6. The robot must travel inside the course.
  7. The robot is required to enter the green center box from the open side (the side without black tape) on its way to the finish box.
  8. The maximum period to traverse the course is 3 minutes.
  9. A robot that releases the balloon by pressing the release mechanism will be rewarded with a time bonus.

Scoring:

Score will be measured in seconds to complete the course. Shortest time wins the match.
